"Buffalo Roam" Calf Project- February 2008

Am now beginning to work on the 2008 "Buffalo Roam" art project in support of the community of West Yellowstone, Montana.

In 2006, West Yellowstone enlisted the talents of 25 artists from Montana, Wyoming, Colorado and Minnesota to paint 25 near life-size cow buffalo models. These models were artistically embellished with Native American, landscape and wildlife paintings and unveiled to the public in June 2007. During the unveiling, 15 of the participating artists also collectively painted a 26th buffalo, each developing a piece to create a fabulous collage painting. My first "Buffalo Roam" model project is pictured here:

All of the 25 artwork creations are depicted on the West Yellowstone website here:

This year, ten selected artists are preparing ten smaller buffalo "calf" models to join the West Yellowstone herd in June 2008. You can see my progress to date on my model by seeing my gallery page here:

The "Buffalo Roam" herd will be joined by the new calf creations when publicly unveiled on 14 June 2008. There will also be an expanded Northwest Regional Art Show 13-15 June hosted by the community and held in the historic Union Pacific Dining Hall in West Yellowstone.

This is an exciting project and one I feel priveleged to participate in. West Yellowstone and Yellowstone Park receive millions of visitors each year, and I am pleased and honored that so many people can see and enjoy these fabulous creations.
